Margarita’s Amigos has been going strong for more than 35+ years, and there’s a reason. They are an absolute staple in the KC Mexican food scene. Jalapenos Brookside is the perfect number two for our list. They focus on fresh ingredients that are purchased daily, and you can taste that in the food. They have an extensive menu and plenty of things to try to keep you coming back. There are some local favorites that you have to try. The fajitas are amazing, and the Jalapeno Dip is perfect for sharing with the table along with their fresh salsa chopped up daily. Craving Tacos on a Monday? They have 2 for one taco specials every Monday after 4 pm! On Tuesday, don’t worry, they still have a fantastic fajita special!
The Taco Republic is a fun and breezy Tex-Mex and fusion taco restaurant with lots of creativity and variety. Their taco “twosday” (as they call it) deal it is $2 “S&P” tacos, with the choice of chicken or beef, along with $2 Miller High Life or Tecate cans, and it lasts all day. Their S&P taco is the basic taco on their menu, made with shredded chicken or beef brisket, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and lettuce, and it’s $3 at regular price. In case the S&P taco gives you a taste for more, they offer 12 other tacos to mix it up, from $3.50 to $4.25 each.

Drunken Worm is a tequila and taco bar with a charming “dive bar” feel. They serve Tex-Mex and fusion Mexican food, and their all-day taco Tuesday special is also offered 11 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. That means you can get a Tuesday evening dinner at a lunchtime price. It’s a 4-taco basket for $4.99 for beef or chicken or $3.99 for black bean tacos. Every other day of the week after 3 pm, it’s $7 for two tacos and a side or $9 for three tacos and two sides. Pair the taco basket with their $3.50 Mexican beers on Tuesday, and you’ve found a great deal.
Kansas City Taco Company is the elite choice for a pure atmosphere with Tex-Mex and fusion tacos. For $3 on Tuesdays, you can get seasoned beef, Cuban-style chicken, or black bean and avocado tacos, and each comes topped with Baja slaw and cilantro. There is a minimum of 2 tacos per order, but surely you’ll want more than just one. Regular price for t tacos is around $8-9, with several more varieties available.
Cancun is a Mexican restaurant with a “mom and pop” feel and an authentic Mexican taste. Types of Taco Meats

Carnitas is deep-fried pulled pork, but it means “little meats” as it’s an exact translation. It’s usually fried for several hours in a slow-cook process to get the meat done, and the heat is turned up at the end to give the pork crispiness. Carnitas gets shredded and used in a variety of Mexican dishes such as tamales, tortas, and of course, tacos.
Barbacoa, as known in the United States, is steamed beef. In Mexico, it can be made with meats other than a cow, such as a goat, sheep, or pork, and prepared in different ways. The word “barbecue” in English is derived from the word barbacoa, though the two do not have similar meanings today. If you order barbacoa, you’ll get delicious and flavorful shredded beef perfect for a corn tortilla taco.
